With a nursery in Portugal and a distribution centre in Holland, Citrina Plants supply citrus plants across the UK and Europe; both to retailers and direct to the consumer via an online webshop.

The Sales Manager for Citrina Plants, said “Forty years ago, we only produced large citrus plants. We recently noticed a gap in the market for smaller citrus plants. These are used for decoration in small businesses and at home.”

Citrina Plants contacted Cullen to design a packaging case that protects their plants in transit. Cullen’s unique ability to use both moulded pulp for inner protection and corrugate for outer box packaging let us propose a complete solution.

Michael, Cullen’s lead corrugate packaging designer, said “When we learned that Citrina customers were using the stem and leaves to remove the plant from its packaging, we knew this wasn’t ideal. We proposed the addition of grab handles to allow removal without damage. As a result, Citrina customers were always presented with a perfect plant.”
